Air Force cancels hundreds of millions in bomber contracts
The House Armed Services Committee probes the Air Force $750 million B 36 six engined bomber program after eight canceled orders totaling $500 million. The action, aimed at concentrating on more B 36 production, will cost the government about $50 million in losses while delivering no new aircraft. Critics say the plan switch lacks full explanations from Air Secretary Symington and generals.
