First woman pioneer honored at Frederick County festival
The Beatty-Cramer House on Israel Creek, built 1732 to 1742, was the focus of the second annual festival by the Landmarks Foundation. Susanna Beat, who left New York with ten children in 1732, settled here and bought 1000 acres. The Dutch-style timber frame house is Frederick County's oldest structure, and tours were offered with demonstrations of period crafts.
