Potomac Synod votes to form Central Atlantic Conference
In a 78 to 36 vote the Potomac Synod United Church of Christ approved a basis of union outlining a proposed Central Atlantic Conference. Rev. Kennedy Bishop was elected president until the new structure forms, with Hood College as the synod’s offices and a June 1965 inaugural meeting planned at Hood College. The plan would unite Middle Atlantic, Potomac, New Jersey Churches of the New York Conference and Virginia Valley Central Conference with six proposed associations.

Youth Drowns In C&O Canal
A 16 year old boy, Roger Rosander of Bethesda, Md., drowned after his dog disrupted a rescue attempt. Park police report he and neighbor Lee K. Buchanan, 39, and Buchanan’s 14 year old son swam across the wide canal. Roger tired, Buchanan entered with a life saver, but the dog lunged and broke the grip, causing Roger to disappear beneath the surface.
