Mixed Emotions Rule On Cars In City Life
The Maryland Court of Appeals upholds a farmer right to drive cows down main street as an ancient practice not abrogated by cars. New Jersey neighbors oppose a 62 car vintage Packard yard, moving them to avoid theft. In New York Mayor Wagner requires local citizen planning board approval before widening streets. The nation’s love affair with autos remains ambivalent amid highways and city effects. US auto production booms for a third straight year, likely surpassing 76 million units, with 1965 models offering major changes to sustain the boom and shift toward replacing feet.

Scorching 99 Degree Day Grips Frederick June 9 1914
Fifty years ago Frederick sweltered under a 99 degree official reading as heat beat down on people and beasts. A state road proposal would cut across Noah E. Cramer, County Commissioner John W. Humm, and John Cronise lands, removing two grade crossings and the Worman's Mill turn. Inter Denominational Men's Union planning began at Grace Reformed Church with Paul Smith and John W. Wolfe leading. In Chambersburg, three miles of Hagerstown and Northern track in Pennsylvania sold for 10000 dollars to Charles McC. Mathias, with a 10000-dollar bond.

Lower Birth Rate Pressures Political Propaganda
The article notes falling birth rates in the United States despite more women entering child bearing age and marriages. It attributes the trend to economic concerns and the rising priority of college education, with families delaying or limiting births to enable women to return to work and sustain incomes. Public Health Service reports births this spring at a decade low, not alarming but contrary to predicted population growth.
