Preaching At Potomac Synod Sermon By Rev Dr Wilke At Hood College
Rev Dr Harold H Wilke of New York City will preach at the holy communion service opening the Potomac Synod United Church of Christ meeting at Hood College Coffman Chapel Wednesday at 2 pm. The weeklong synod runs through Friday with registration on Wednesday at 12 30 pm in the college gym. Wilke directs the United Church of Christ Council for Church and Ministry and has held multiple church leadership roles and placements before 1962. He has traveled internationally and served as a delegate to church assemblies and taught in various seminaries and colleges.

Jail Escapee Seeks Jury Trial After Assaulting Guard
Bobby James Sexton, 23, Adamstown, who fled jail after assaulting a turn key May 9, waived a preliminary hearing on escape charges and asked for a jury trial on assault and battery in Magistrate Court. Magistrate Stanley Bennett granted the requests via his attorney Wilbur Sheffield. Sexton was reportedly arrested May 8 for intoxication. After lunch at the jail on May 9 he became boisterous and grabbed Paul C. Jones, a jail turnkey.

General Jubal Early Will Return For Ransom Reenactment

Tour pushes to upgrade C O Canal to national park
Representatives from the Natural Resources Institute toured the C and O Canal at the invitation of Congressman Charles Mathias and the U S Park Service. Mathias introduced H R 4046 in February 1963 to upgrade status and fund land acquisition, with a National Historical Park Commission to be formed and nine members appointed by state and federal officials.
