Dairy Employes To Accept Salary Boost

Washington June 6 union milk truck drivers and other dairy employes voted to accept an across the board $4 a week wage increase affecting about 1 525 workers. The Milk Drivers and Dairy Employes Local 246 AFL said the contract was approved 938 to 124 with gains in commissions overtime and working conditions. Minimum weekly pay set at $65.50 for chain store drivers $68.25 for wholesale and $63.50 for retail drivers.

Moose Club Robbed of 730 Dollars in Nighttime Theft

City police disclosed the Moose Club at 110 West South Street was robbed of about $730 cash late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Authorities said no sign of forced entry was found and the thief or thieves remain unknown as leads are pursued. Gov Eddie Saltzman filed the report with Sheriff and City officers amid ongoing inquiries.

Identity Of Child Unknown In Frederick County

The Frederick County Childrens Aid Society reports a six week old foundling left on a West Second street bench last April remains unidentified. The baby, named Elizabeth, is cared for in a state approved foster home while numerous adoption applications arrive from within Maryland and other states. Elizabeth has a heart murmur that needs careful monitoring, though doctors hope she may outgrow it.

Baltimore CAS reports May activities and custody actions

Local Child Welfare Society activities highlighted for May include placing a five month old baby with a Baltimore couple under a one year State supervised trial. The CAS returned custody of a five year old feeble minded girl to her parents after they rejected sterilization recommendations. A four year old local colored girl was committed to the Maryland Training School for Colored Girls. A sixteen year old boy in a foster home with homicidal tendencies was committed to Springfield State Hospital following evaluation. The board, led by President Charles McC. Mathias, noted a Foster Parents Meeting held May 21 at the Middletown Lutheran church recreation hall chaired by board member Mrs. Howard Gross.

Night Spot Employee Must Pay $500 Fine

Ocean City night spot employee Frank Darrow pleaded guilty to running a gaming table and bookmaking and was fined $500 by Magister Fred Culver. Eleven patrons and Darrow were rounded up at Rick's Raft. disorderly conduct charges against patrons were dropped. Darrow previously paid a $200 fine last month. Culver warned him not to appear again on the charge.

Gambling raid nets eight horse race slips and cash

Darrow’s first gambling fine followed a similar raid that confiscated eight betting slips and $825. The incident suggests a pattern of enforcement actions targeting illegal wagering activities involving horse racing.
