Car Slams Into Culvert Near Taneytown Fire Chief Says
A carnival car left Route 71 four miles north of Taneytown and crashed into a culvert. Driver David Roy Mackley of Biglerville endured contusions to the right thigh and leg. Florence Sharrer of Gettysburg sustained a fractured nose and a cut lip. Charles E Comer of York Spring suffered a forehead cut. All were taken by Taneytown Fire Department ambulance to Anne M. Warner Hospital in Gettysburg. State Trooper James Poteet said the car was demolished and the charge was not pursued.
