Emmitsburg History Talk on Great Fire of 1863
Emmitsburg historians report the 1863 fire that destroyed much of the center of town during a June 15 1894 talk by Dr Robert Preston at the Mount St Marys College library. The event notes the blaze through the heart of Emmitsburg, casualties and homes lost, and how residents rebuilt with brick, plus a brief corporate meeting and upcoming events.
