Civil War Tablet to Be Unveiled at Rose Hill Cemetery
In Hagerstown a memorial tablet will be unveiled at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rose Hill Cemetery where 5,000 Confederate dead are buried. Mrs. William Taber, a Chevy Chase private school consultant and great great granddaughter of Francis Scott Key, will raise the stars and stripes. Most Confederate soldiers remain unidentified. they were buried here after the 1863 Battle of Antietam, the war's bloodiest day.
Hood College Awards Arts Center Contract to Hagerstown Firm
Hood College executive committee approved awarding the arts center contract to J. B. Ferguson Company of Hagerstown after their low bid on May 21, reducing projected cost to about 767 500.
