An alert passerby notified city police of activity at Landis Jewelry Store on South Market Street around 1 a.m. Officers, arriving quickly, surrounded the store and caught two men with more than $200 worth of jewelry. Tawes May Request Tax Reduction
ANNAPOLIS Gov Tawes said he will ask the 1965 Maryland Legislature to cut the higher state income tax rate for next year if revenues justify it. Safe Hunt In Monocacy Is Halted
State Police divers recovered a second unlocked safe and tools from the Monocacy River near the U S 240 Bridge after a four hour search. Divers Frank Mazone and R B Cave, aided by Cpl. Henry I Stafford, found the items in six feet of water. The safes were not believed stolen from the area and will be sent to Pikesville for a full investigation.

Earl Kolb Jr of near Frederick pleaded guilty to seven counts of forgery and was sentenced to three concurrent years in the Maryland House of Correction by Circuit Court Judge Thomas M. Anderson.
