Sylvan program helps student earn algebra scholarship
Frederick County and Sylvan Learning Center formed a 1992 partnership offering up to three algebra scholarships annually for Career and Technology Center students. Roger Hyder, a Brunswick High senior, benefited from twice weekly sessions, improving his math skills and confidence, with teachers noting the positive attitude shift and higher performance. The program integrates math with tech classes, emphasizes attendance and GPA, and plans to renew the collaboration with continued professional staff training.
