Lovers Die Together In Delaware River Tragedy
In Philadelphia a 14 year old Gustav Kathke and 18 year old Fila Miller, barred from marrying by their parents, drowned themselves by jumping into the Delaware River. Their bodies were found near Chestnut Street wharf, arms entwined. Kathke had asked a cousin to hang crepe on his door and lay 18 roses on his coffin if he died.
