The Senate voted 57 to 42 to lift the three year old U S arms sales embargo on Turkey. The measure seeks to restore NATO strength and spur a Cyprus settlement but still must pass the House next week. The compromise preserves a ceiling on Turkish aid and matches Greece aid for 1979 with future aid tied to Cyprus talks and human rights.

Two Area Residents Injured In Separate Incidents
In Brunswick Brett Sigler 21 was injured when a crane ran over him at the B and O Railroad yard. He fell beneath the machine and sustained a severe back injury. In Middletown Richard Clipp 30 is in fair condition with a gunshot wound deemed self inflicted or safety related. Both were airlifted by state police helicopter to MIEMS.
