Captain John J. Pershing of the Fifteenth Cavalry arrests the Sultan of Binadayan as a hostage for the Moros who attacked two Americans on June 24. July 25 a rear coach on the Ohio and Little Kanawha plunged 40 feet from a trestle two miles below MecConnellsville while the train ran 30 mph. Miss Gertrude Sherwood of Roxbury was killed and County Commissioner Wrightisher is dying. Twenty three injured, several fatally, including Charles Bailey of Manetta. The car carried 3 passengers.

A Mayflower dispatch reports the president’s yacht ran into fog off Tompkinsville Staten Island and anchored for the night. The party landed this morning and proceeded to the president’s house. Detained by fog off Staten Island will be home tomorrow morning.

Bryan spoke on harmony, majority rule, and opposing anti Democratic forces while pledging to uphold Democratic principles and defend the party against wealth influence.
