Today in Western Maryland mostly sunny and hot with highs near the upper 90s and light winds. Tonight fair and warm with lows in the low to mid 70s. Saturday partly sunny and hot with a 20 percent rain chance and 10 to 15 mph southwest winds. Maryland Mountains shows very warm conditions with scattered afternoon storms and 20 percent rain today, 30 percent Saturday, highs around the upper 80s to mid 80s. Temperatures across Frederick Westminster Hagerstown Cumberland Oakland ranged from 88 to 98 with nightly lows 66 to 72.

A 23 year old Walkersville resident pleaded guilty Thursday to selling phencyclidine to a state police narcotics agent, with sentencing deferred for a background check. Jackson faces up to 20 years and a possible $25,000 fine, after a plea bargain that dismissed several related charges.
Two Frederick area teens were injured near Gambrill State Park when a friend trapped in a tree asked them to fetch a ladder and drive his car. 18-year-old Darrell Lambright and 16-year-old Timothy Cantler were treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital after Lambright crashed the car while searching for a ladder.
