Fire destroys stone barn near Fort Ritchie killing 170 animals
Approximately 170 animals perished as a fire gutted the Robert Fraser farm barn on Md 491 near Fort Ritchie on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters found the old stone barn fully engulfed after pigs and cattle were killed before arrival. the cause remains under investigation per deputy state fire marshal Ted Meminger.

Two area men charged with selling marijuana in Frederick
Frederick City Police arrested Derrick A. Buckner and Anthony D. Oram on Tuesday night for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine. Five bags of marijuana and one bag of cocaine were found on All Saints Street. Buckner had 1405 dollars. Oram held on 155000 bail, Buckner on 150000 bail.

Western Maryland Heatwave Forecast For Early Summer
The Western Maryland region covering Carroll Frederick Howard Montgomery and Washington counties expects sunny hot and humid conditions today with highs in the upper 90s in the lower elevations and upper 80s in the mountains. Tonight will be fair and warm with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Extension into Friday remains hot with light winds and temperatures near 90 in the plains. The Maryland mountains stay mostly sunny and very warm with highs in the upper 80s to 90s and similar light winds. The extended outlook through Monday shows continued heat with a chance of thunderstorms Monday and cooler conditions in the mountains. FCC probes Cuban radio jamming on AM 1040 in Iowa
