Prohibitionists Nominate Hanly and Landrith for Tickets
The Prohibition national convention adjourned after nominating J Frank Hanly for president and Dr Ka D Landrith for vice president. Hanly led with 440 votes to 181 for William Sulzer as others withdrew. Major Butler and Mrs Spannell Shot In Alpine
In Alpine Texas Major M C Butler of the Sixth United States Cavalry and Mrs H J Spannell were killed while riding in a car by Mrs Spannell's husband H J Spannell who surrendered after the shooting. Authorities say jealousy is the alleged motive. Mrs Spannell is the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Holland, owners of the Holland hotel.
