City Deliberates Sludge Disposal Bid Plan
Frederick aldermen on Wednesday signaled support for seeking bids on sludge disposal while reviewing a comprehensive waste management plan expected soon. Superintendent Allen Angelus outlined three options to recycle sludge as fertilizer on local farms, noting state land-application requirements and current landfill disposal with an estimated 1992 cost of about $160,000. He added private contractors could simplify permits and storage, potentially saving the city money.
