Death of H G Benson marks storied local sports life
Harry G Benson 85 died at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a five week illness. A Maryland School of the Deaf alumnus and longtime teacher and gym instructor, he earned Hall of Fame honors in 1956 for his work in physical education and Deaf athletics. He coached boys and girls teams and helped leading players to Gallaudet College, surviving with wife Minnie Hanson English Benson two daughters Mary Altice Benson and Elizabeth English Benson, a brother T Legrande Benson of Baltimore, and relatives at 206 West Twelfth Street.

Two youths face car stealing charges in city
Two boys, Dehaven Samuel Toms and Barry William Zell, are jailed in default of bond for unlawful taking of a car from North Market Street. Toms, 20, held at $3500 bond. Zell, 16, at $230. The 1959 Thunderbird was left at the Communications Center after wrecking on the Opossumtown Pike. Police say Toms drove. the vehicle belonged to Sidney Friedman of North Market Street.
