Woman Held For Grand Jury On Forgery Charge
In a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Joseph J. Coady, Mrs. Arvila Summers of Hanover Pa was ordered held for the grand jury on two forgery charges with bonds set at 340,600. She allegedly forged checks totaling 32,600 drawn on Carroll L. Burmer. Burmer testified to years of acquaintance and that Summers admitted forging his name. Bank cashier Lee Specht confirmed the signature was not Burmer’s. Summers faintly asked Specht to drop charges, then was remanded with 2,000 bond per charge. State’s evidence was presented by State’s Attorney Edwin F. Nikirk. Summers formerly lived with husband Richard H. Summers. they have since separated and she resided in Sam Cromwell.

Auto crash injures two in Palmyra on Frederick Freeway
State Police report a two car collision on the Frederick Freeway north of Rosemont Avenue. Mrs Ethel B Moore and her four year old daughter Linda P Moore were injured when their 1959 Nash rammed the rear of a 1955 Mercury driven by Jerome L Painter who had stopped to aid another motorist. Moore and Painter were cited for reckless driving and parking in the traveled portion. A separate incident near Mt Airy involved a 1956 Ford convertible hitting a fence. driver Alen G Brown, 16, did not recall the impact. Also noted: about 1,000 county students participate in a summer education program across several subjects and classes at Frederick area schools.
