Jap Forces Fail To Gain In Aleutians
Japanese troops on three undefended Aleutian islands at the tip of the chain have failed to expand their hold since early June. American air and sea forces have conducted repeated strikes, destroying ships and equipment, with nine damaged or sunk and several aircraft lost. The navy highlights the Dutch Harbor and Midway campaigns as a two pronged effort shaping the Pacific war, while noting the fog hampered many attacks. A birthday party notice for Mrs. Gilmore O. Hamilton is included.
