Bechtel Breaks Ground on Frederick County HQ

Bechtel Power Corporation begins the first phase of its new Frederick County headquarters in the Westview Corporate Center. A 127000 square foot main building and 40000 square foot conference center are planned with 1500 employees relocated from Gaithersburg by January 2001. Construction targets March 1999 completion. Deaf-blind camp Instills love hope and faith

Library renovation may include balcony with creek view

Frederick County Commissioners approved a design change for the C. Burr Artz library expansion to add a second floor balcony overlooking Carroll Creek. The change costs 10,000 now and could raise total project cost by 22,000 if approved, as the $7 million plan aims to nearly double the library size by adding 35,093 square feet on East.
