Camping A New Experience For East County
Camping was a new experience for 75 youngsters aged six to nine from eastern Frederick County at the East County Youth Association Day Camp at St. Peter Parish Hall Libertytown. Funds raised by Martha Hoy of New London were matched by a federal grant and the Community Action Agency administers the program. Lunches are funded by the state Department of Education and buses provided by the Frederick County Board of Education. Drivers and staff headed by Rocky Kimball are paid from camp funds. The program offers games fishing arts and crafts swimming at Hope Valley three times weekly and field trips over three weeks for younger children and three weeks for older youths.
