Thunderstorms over the week end fail to relieve high temperatures near 90 degrees. Sunday’s high reached 86 while a low of 67 was recorded last night. Court proceedings began this morning in Frederick County Circuit Court for 41 indictments handed up by the Frederick County Grand Jury. Judge Samuel W. Barrick set August 21 as the date for most drug related cases. Eleven defendants face drug charges in eleven indictments.

Police Probe Shooting At New Market Carnival
State police investigate a Saturday night carnival shooting at New Market. Wayne Rippeon, 23, of Mt. Airy, is in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen after a disturbance in the parking lot. Ralph Ellis, a guard, says Rippeon tried to drive over him. U S B52 bombers and a large naval task force hit North Vietnamese positions on both sides of the DMZ in broad daylight strikes. Fall From Horse Kills Woman 71 in Maryland
A 71 year old Chevy Chase woman died from head injuries after being thrown from a horse on a road south of Frederick. Mrs Ollie Body was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr Robert Hughes. The incident occurred on the Geisbert farm off Baker Valley Road after her horse spooked when her grandson rode by on a pony.
