Break-ins reported in Gaithersburg area

Montgomery County police reported three burglaries this week. At Village Car Wash 19604 Clubhouse Road Gaithersburg a garage door was broken but nothing was taken. At Summer Ridge Condominiums 18407 Goldberry Drive a rear door lock was picked with no items taken. A third attempt occurred at 19400 Brassie Place Gaithersburg with a failed lock pick amid no loss.

Woman Arrested For Prostitution And Theft In Frederick

A Frederick woman, 28, Sheila Michele Whiten of West All Saints Street, was arrested by an undercover Frederick city officer in the early hours on West South Street. She was charged with solicitation for prostitution and lewdness plus theft of $20 after allegedly offering sex for money and attempting to procure marijuana. The officer, Scott Long, noted Whiten grabbed the officer by offering sex and then stole the $20 before being detained.

Damage at Sunshine farm as combine vandalized near Howard Chapel Road

A 4 year old John Deere 9500 combine valued about 80 000 dollars was damaged by vandals Monday night on Sunshine farm on Howard Chapel Road. The owners Kevin and Kathy Stanley say the machine was driven into a field and woods, with augur housing ruined and wheat crop damaged. A 2 500 dollar reward is being offered. Montgomery County Police dusted for fingerprints as they plan to replace the equipment for harvest.

Couple sentenced for animal cruelty in Frederick County

Frederick County Judge Frederick Bower convicted Easter Dorsey and Richard Dorsey on four counts of animal cruelty and placed them on five years unsupervised probation. The couple must forfeit eight seized horses, reimburse $20,000 for their care, drop civil suits, and endure monthly animal-control checks. Nine horses were found in severe neglect on their Old Annapolis Road farm last July. one foal was found deceased.

Plains Heat Wave Records and Livestock Losses

Two Hurt When Truck and Trailer Flip on I-70

Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a pickup and trailer overturned on I-70 west of Bill Moxley Road. Joan Van Hoose, 43, of New Market, and her daughter Janet Van Hoose, 17, were treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Police said the crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. when the trailer pulled the truck toward the right shoulder and they rolled over, shutting the interstate for about an hour.

Two Brunswick youths charged in tombstone vandalism at Park Heights Cemetery

Two 14 year old boys from Brunswick face cemetery desecration and property destruction charges after tipping over about 18 gravestones at Park Heights Cemetery on East H Street between June 23 and 25. Police say the suspects, who initially treated the act as roughhousing, were identified after reports from children.
