Fire destroys hay shed at 4319 B Lander Road

A shed and 50 round bales of hay were destroyed in an early morning fire at 4319 B Lander Road. Three tractors and another farm implement were saved. Kenneth Wiles owns the farm. State Fire Marshal suspects spontaneous combustion in the hay. Jefferson, Carroll Manor, and Brunswick crews responded at 5:09 a.m. and cleared by 7:54 a.m.

Laughing gas leak at Shady Grove hospital

A contractor severed a half inch nitrous oxide line at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital while renovating the third floor. The line was quickly crimped and duct taped, with short term exposure deemed within safe limits and about 50 patients in ICU CCU and surgery unaffected. The hospital halted the line, tested the air, and reported no danger.

Police seize 13 alleged gang members in Northwest DC raid
