Glass Collection Starts 2nd Year in Harpers Ferry
The monthly glass collection enters its second year on July 1 in Harpers Ferry with Boy Scout Troop 39 loading discarded jars and bottles into a Dixie Kilham truck. Citizens from Harpers Ferry and nearby towns such as Charles Town and Frederick contribute, and the glass is crushed at a storage center before shipment to Winchester. The effort is voluntary, aided by the Harpers Ferry Council, with collection every first Saturday from 9 to 12 and council meetings at Mather Center on the second and fourth Wednesdays.
