Home affordability hits three year low in June
The National Association of Realtors reports the housing affordability index at 99.3 percent in June, the lowest since March 1986, as higher mortgage rates and a $600 rise in median resale price push typical buyers out of reach. Mortgage rates closed at 10.59 percent, with May at 10.46 percent, before easing later. Ira Gribin warns high cost areas still price out entry buyers despite rate relief.
