Estates to be settled under AG opinion on funds in closed banks
An Attorney General's opinion to Register of Wills allows settlement of over 200 estates blocked by questions about funds in defunct or restricted banks. It addresses appraising beneficial interest certificates, state taxes on deposits, and distribution to heirs, distinguishing losses before or after the decedent’s death and permitting appraisal or sale under court order.
