Montevue Hospital Treats 268 Patients Since Opening
Two hundred sixty eight patients have been admitted at Montevue Frederick County Emergency Hospital since its opening on June 9, 1934. Both white and colored patients are treated, with whites more numerous. 68 births and 17 deaths reported. The facility has 50 beds, an average daily occupancy of about 42, and a staff of three day nurses, one night nurse, and a colored orderly. Built by the County Commissioners with Federal aid at a total cost around $22,000, it occupies part of the old Montevue tramp house. white patients on the first floor, colored on the second, with an operating room on the second floor under Dr. B. O. Thomas. The Montevue main building now houses 188 inmates, and transient patients from the Frederick Transient Center may receive treatment here.
