Two-Car Crash Sends Seven to FMH in Frederick
Frederick police report a Jeep driven by 29 year old Joseph Vona of Oakwood Drive turned left on West Seventh Street into an oncoming 1988 Chevrolet Nova driven by 19 year old James Majette. The collision flipped the Jeep. Vona was trapped briefly. Majette and five passengers, including two juveniles, were also hospitalized. Vona was charged with failing to yield.

Hospital opens child sex abuse center in Rockville
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville will open a Sexual Abuse and Assault Center for children on February 5, a first for Montgomery County. The joint program with the county DHHS will fund half the physicians' time, with reporting unchanged to Child Protective Services. The center will provide treatment, interviewing, and evidence collection on site, and aim to educate health care providers and the public on warning signs and risk factors.

Man shot near Frederick hospitalized after incident
A 27-year-old Frederick man, David Maurice Griffin, told police he was shot in the leg outside a club in Prince George's County Sunday night. He was not initially sure it was a gunshot, called 911, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. Griffin was wounded on the outer side of his right leg below the knee. In a separate case, a 15-year-old was charged after a reported break in at 344A Field Pointe Blvd. Officers found the youth with a semi-automatic handgun and charged him with a concealed deadly weapon carrying a handgun and assault. He was taken to Alfred Noyes Children's Center in Rockville.
