Chas B Cox Dies At Home After Monthlong Illness
Charles Beisel Cox a prominent Frederick hotel operator died at 2 10 AM at 144 West Patrick Street after a month of illness. He was 76. Born March 5 1877 in Millersville Pa he managed the New City Hotel in Frederick from 1910 to 1918 and later led hotels in Waynesboro Woodstock and Hancock before retiring. He is survived by wife Mae Keefer Cox a son and a daughter and several siblings. Funeral plans set for Monday at 11 AM with interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Local jury clears defendants in Rockville rear-end crash verdict
A Circuit Court jury in Rockville returned a verdict for defendants in a rear-end collision case. Marshall W. Stitely of Woodsboro claimed $381.79 for car damage and a substitute vehicle cost. He said the May 23 accident occurred near the Rockville by-pass traffic light when following a car driven by Naomi Durr and owned by John J. Tweedlie of West Virginia. The defense argued Stitely failed to control his vehicle and blamed unfamiliarity with the Packard. Associate Judge Patrick M Schnauffer presided.

Two World Day of Prayer services planned in Frederick
Under the Frederick Council of Church Women World Day of Prayer will be observed Friday Feb 20 with two interdenominational services. The noontime service 11 45 a m to 12 30 p m at Evangelical Reformed Trinity Chapel features sacred music prayer and meditation and allows working people to attend briefly.
