Attorney questions Ficker Amendment
A Montgomery County attorney questions a Ficker backed charter amendment aimed at forcing referendums on tax increases. The county seeks legal guidance on ballot viability arguing it conflicts with the 1990 Fairness in Taxation amendment and state tax laws. The opinion suggests a declaratory judgment to resolve the issue and notes a court could bar the measure from the November ballot.
