Western Maryland Stock Reorganization Faces ICC Review
Western Maryland Railway officials began talks on reworking the stock recapitalization after an Interstate Commerce Commission examiner vetoed the plan as not serving the public interest or the first preferred stockholders. The railroad has 30 days to file exceptions, opponents 10 days to reply, with the case advancing to the ICC finance division and potentially the full commission. The plan, introduced last April to replace a 1950 design, notes a bright earnings outlook, and most preferred stock is held by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The carrier, once passenger heavy, now concentrates on fast freight between Baltimore Hagerstown and regional points. DETRICK CLUB MEETS Mrs. John C.
