Decline in gas prices lags wholesale drop
Gasoline prices fell only fractionally as wholesale prices dropped steeply in late 1984 and early 1985. Analyst Dan Lundberg says dealers kept markups steady, with self service regular unleaded around 1.04 dollars a gallon and leaded at about 1.18. Unleaded full service varied near 1.46, while leaded full service stood near 1.10, reflecting shifting demand and new federal standards reducing lead content.
