Potomac River as National River Model Highlighted
Richard A. Twigg surveys the Potomac as a national river model with balance between development and preservation. He notes basin reaches into multiple states, river dimensions, historical milestones from Captain John Smith to the Mason-Dixon Line, and the river’s evolving role from a transportation network to a rural, forested region. The piece ends with mention of the Atlanta Braves opening a new park with a three game weekend against the New York Yankees on April 8 9 10, with the first two under lights.
