Suspect Arson In House Fire Near New Market
State Police arson investigators were called to Frederick to probe a second morning fire at the Harry Petticord residence on Boyers Mill Road near New Market. Carol F Harbaugh said arson was suspected in the 6 45 a m blaze that damaged the kitchen of the farm home, the site of Tuesday's fire. Fire units from New Market Independent Hose Company fought the flames, with earlier damage estimated at 5000 dollars. A second fire on the same morning damaged an occupied Witmer home on Gas House Pike near McKaig, with smoke pervading the two story dwelling. no damage estimate available. Fire companies from New Market Independent and Libertytown assisted.
