Free Signs Regulated by City Ordinance in Frederick
City building inspector Charles W. Mock says freestanding signs must stay under 25 feet tall, 2 square feet per linear foot of frontage, and project no more than 30 inches over the pavement. Zoning B-3 allows them with waivers granted for visibility on sloped sites. Some stations plan to extend signs over property rather than sidewalks. Barbara Fritchie Motel removed one freestanding sign and will address another.
