Frederick County rejects Holter rezoning plan
The Frederick County Planning Commission denied a joint rezoning request by C. K. Holter Jr and Sr to convert nearly 41 acres north of Middletown from agricultural to low density residential. The panel cited growth concerns and potential increased development beyond 12 lots, preferring preservation of agricultural land. The vote was unanimous while another proposal to rezone eight acres near Frostown Road to agricultural was approved.

City's fluoride stock is safe amid national shortage
A national fluoride shortage tightens supplies in Baltimore and Washington, but Frederick's water system remains well stocked. City chemist Harvey Thomas says no problems expected, with a recent shipment in and regular deliveries of 30 drums every two to three months. Experts expect the shortage to last one to three months and may affect larger areas first.
