Proposed FEMA cuts may burn firemen

Max the Maryland police canine recaptured after 48 hours

Max, a six year old white German Shepherd assigned to the Frederick barracks, escaped from his kennel around 1 p.m. Wednesday near Hagerstown. Spotted at a Burhan's Boulevard concrete plant, he was lured with a turkey sandwich and returned to a city police cruiser after a tense standoff. He suffers a leg laceration but is reported doing fine and expected to be home soon with a vet estimating three to five days off work. The dog will not be disciplined for the AWOL incident.
