Key-De-Blue Dairy Farm Embraces Incorporation Solution

Carroll Wilhide and his sons Myron and Richard of Detour transform the family dairy farm into a corporation to balance ownership, tax efficiency, and governance. They sold or rented all property to the corporation and use stock ownership with buyout provisions to share ownership while maintaining farm size. The move allows salaries, easier capital access, and risk sharing, enabling expansion and modernization like total silage feeding and diversified silo use. The Wilhides see the shift as a way to keep the farm within the family and outpace rising costs and taxes.
