Paper soldiers parade through history at Montgomery County museum
A collection of cut out and assembled paper soldiers, some over two centuries old, is being gathered and cared for by the Montgomery County Historical Society. The paper figures date to the mid 1700s and peaked in the 1800s and early 1900s, later eclipsed by wood and plastic as well as media. The exhibit traces toy soldiers from Napoleonic wars through World War II, including rare European pieces and a Brooklyn-born collector inspired by Great War stories.
