A 12:16 pm brush fire near the Knott Athletic Recreation Convocation Complex on the east side of U S 15 sparked from burning wood and brush. Community fundraiser contributor and 33 year company veteran Mr Powell noted the vigilance of locals as the blaze spread from barrels to nearby piles of firewood furniture and trash before lunch.

Emmitsburg vigil burns with sorrow as Vigilant Hose Co honors the death of Terry Lee Myers, a 50 year old Emmitsburg resident who collapsed at home and died at Gettysburg Hospital.
