Freder ick Kiwanis Club heard Charles Beattie area supervisor of Shervin Williams Paint Co speak at the Francis Scott Key Hotel on paints history uses and developments. He cited early white lead use dates to 350 B C and noted latex alkyd and catalyst coatings with trials in automotive finishes while stressing protection and beauty through color. Kiwanis president Joseph Kline led the meeting with over 500 in attendance and a memorial moment for charter member Benjamin Rose nour.

Unoccupied House Damaged by Fire in Walkersville

A two alarm fire damaged an unoccupied five room log house on Bloomfield Road near Route 15. No injuries were reported. Firefighters from Walkersville and Frederick fought the blaze about 30 minutes. ownership belonged to Mrs. Harry Cramer. The incident occurred near Hansonville with cause undetermined.

Ten Arrested In Series Of Anne Arundel Burglaries

Ten teenagers and a 21 year old youth were arrested in a two year burglary spree in Anne Arundel County. Authorities recovered guns a slot machine and cash from the Patuxent River and a tote of 60 nickels. Seven arrestees are juveniles to be held at the Maryland Training School with a hearing set for Feb. 28 in Annapolis. Two possible members remain in the service and two others face eight counts of breaking and entering with bail at 4000 dollars. The total loot exceeds 1700 dollars.
