First Witness in Red Gables Murder Trial
Beatrice Margi testified as the first witness in the murder trial of Mrs. M. Florence Erb and her sister Mrs. Catherine Bessel at Media, Pennsylvania. District Attorney McDade outlined the Commonwealths plan to prove the pair plotted the captain’s death at Red Gables, with evidence favoring that Mrs. Erb fired the fatal shots. The defense claiming Beinel pulled the revolver from a healthy Erb was ridiculed, and prosecutors noted Mrs. Erb’s alleged statements about shooting or being shot in self defense.
