Comprehensive rezoning plan aims to guide Frederick County conservation areas
The Frederick County Planning Department presented a two district conservation zone plan to the county commissioners, reorganizing about 87 453 acres representing 20 percent of the county. The Resource Conservation Zoning District permits 5 acre minimum lots with 1 to 2 acre clusters, while the Resource Protection Zoning District covers 70 percent with 20 acre lots and clustering options, plus a strict 25 to 100 foot setback regime for streams, slopes, floodplains, and wetlands to limit subdivision and protect sensitive areas. A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. January 3 at Winchester Hall.
