Sam Stroud Addresses Kiwanis With Christmas Talk
Sam Stroud, headwaiter of the Frances Scott Key dining room, delivered the annual Christmas oration to the Kiwanis club during their Wevenly luncheon. He praised members for their year of service to the needy and noted the two large trays of paper money given in appreciation of his staff. The event included a Yuletide song medley and remarks by Dr. A Talbott Brice, with president William Zimmerman guiding a brief business portion announcing upcoming officers: Guy Kelly president, Glenn Main first VP, George S. Smith second VP, Robert Porter director. Visitors included R. C. Thompson Towson Park Loy Hagerstown and guest Henry J. Thornton. The club approved funding a slide projector for the local Girl Scouts and named new chairwomen for next year, including committee heads for Welcome Wagon, social activities, publications, and crafts.
