Jerry H. Metts a Baldwin-Felts rat road detective was acquitted at Westminster on October 11 for the killing. William Deffiemyer, a Lurar, shot to death in the yards of the Norfolk and Western Railroad near Hagerstown. Detected Moss and Forsythe delivered verdict quickly after both sides rested. Trial began at five o clock and proceeded as expeditiously as possible. The case was moved to Westminster after a demonstration at the prison. Several detectives were stationed among a crowd of about 250 attendees. no disturbances occurred as the verdict was read.

Seen near Georgetown pike about 4:30 PM. Deputy Bartgis searched the area and Sheriff’s deputies continue the hunt.
