SCCAs Record 1976 Season Sets Attendance and Wins
In its 33rd year the Sports Car Club of America sanctioned a record 401 events across professional and club racing rallying and Solo 1 and 11. Total attendance neared a million with 976 955 fans. Pro races drew over 733 000 spectators across seven series including Formula 5000 Trans American and U S Grand Prix events. Club racing added 197 761 spectators with 68 National Championship weekends. National Pro Rally and National Club Rally titles were decided with Nissan crowns and notable drivers like Brian Redman Jocko Maggiacomo Follmer and Bagley earning substantial purses. Contingency money and manufacturer sponsorship funded a strong season across multiple venues and series.
