In Frederick county a local campaign during National Retarded Children's Week raised about 1150. Mayor John A. Derr served as honorary chairman. The Frederick County Association for Retarded Children will keep all but 15 percent for the national research fund. Ellsworth McGaha heads the local group as donations flowed from Lions Club square dance, Civitan tag days, and numerous individuals and organizations across the area.
